SPE Professional Certification
PURPOSE
SPE Professional Certification provides an international benchmark of the capabilities and knowledge of a petroleum engineer.
REQUIREMENTS
-
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science or Technology
-
4 years of hands-on experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
-
SPE member in good standing
-
Peer references
-
Satisfactory completion of a one-time comprehensive written examination (see below)
-
Acceptance of SPE’s Guide to Professional Conduct
-
Completion of 16 hours of continuing professional/technical education annually – to maintain certification
THE EXAM
-
8-hour written, openbook exam; 2 sessions of 4 hours each before and after lunch
-
100 multiple choice items scored at 1 point each (100% objective)
-
Exam will be offered at ROGC 2010 if there are enough candidates (20-40)

Allocate about 1 hour/day to study – total 100 hours

Chose the books to bring into the exam and mark them. You may bring unlimited number of books but no loose papers or sheets; 5-10 books should be enough
